barbara streisand - classical barbra (1976)

7.17.2009

Proving that she really can pull off anything she sets her mind to, Barbra recorded this amazing collection of traditional, lieder classical music. Streisand's instincts are seldom off, and this incredible intuition follows her into the classical realm. Even in the context of this very difficult style of singing, Streisand's performance never seems anything less than completely natural. In fact, Barbra's elegant rendition of Carl Orff's "In Trutina" is one of the most beautiful vocal performances I've ever heard. Throughout the ten track album, Streisand sings in five different languages and seems completely at home in all of them. Most amazingly, she is somehow able to meet the demands of the compositions without completely surrendering her own unique attributes. This hybrid is at it's most spectacular on Hugo Wolf's "Verschwiegene Liebe" and George Frideric Handel's "Lascia ch'io pianga," in which the combination composition and performer create an almost surreal beauty that echoed throughout the entire project. Melodic and surprising, CLASSICAL BARBRA showcases yet another side to the indescribable talent known as Barbra Streisand.

sungha jung (2008)

Hi, I’m Sungha Jung from South Korea.

My dream is to become a professional acoustic fingerstyle guitarist.
I just turned twelve in September, 2008.

Currently, I am taking weekly classical guitar lessons and teaching myself fingerstyle guitar. I used to not have tabs for the music that I played in my videos. I just listen and pick them up directly from the sound source in videos available on the internet.

However, recently, I have started playing with original tabs whenever they are available to me by courtesy of the authors. My guitar is custom made to fit my body size, and on it, Thomas
Leeb wrote "Keep on grooving to my friend."

Listen please and enjoy. JMRL

opera babes - renaissance

6.27.2009

Everyone by now knows Britain’s own “Operababes” Rebecca Knight and Karen England. Their meteoric rise to fame began in 2001 when, after busking in Covent Garden to support their singing lessons, the two exquisite song birds were discovered by a talent scout who invited them to perform at the FA Cup Final, televised to 500 million people across the globe, and the UEFA Champions League final in Milan. A record company bidding war began, and the OperaBabes were born.

The girls went on to release their debut album Beyond Imagination which went straight to No.1 in the UK Classical Charts, staying there for 11 weeks and selling in excess of 1 million copies, and hit No.4 in the US billboard charts. The magnificent twosome subsequently went on to perform at the Royal Albert Hall for her Majesty the Queen on many occasions including at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, the launch of the Commonwealth Games at Buckingham Palace and the Prom at the Palace for the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

Taking America by storm, they recently performed with Placido Domingo at Los Angeles Opera and made history by becoming the first classical act ever to perform in Las Vegas at the legendary Stardust Casino.
They have just released their eagerly awaited second album “Renaissance” produced by Noel Vine to overwhelming critical acclaim. JMRL
